Jonathan A. Rojas, MS
Tel: 954 800 0818, extension 112
My name is Jon; it is both a privilege and an honor to be joining such a competent collection of clinicians here at Changing Forward.
I am clinically trained in psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families – though I am particularly versed in men’s anxiety and depression. As a researcher, I am passionate about men’s personal accounts of masculinity and gender expression. I frequently use collaborative approaches with my clients that utilize individual expression and creativity as a cathartic outlet for anxiety and depression.
Before I began training and working as a psychotherapist, I managed my own career in showbusiness as a stage and film actor. I gained a certificate in Stage & Film Acting from the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, and performed in a handful of professional gigs, including musical theatre productions, print ads, and Season 2 of Starz’s Magic City. Since retiring from showbusiness, I have returned to my lifelong hobby of music performance. Periodically, I perform professionally (under an alias) with other musicians in South Florida as a vocalist and guitar player.
As a human, I know experientially that life presents a wide and unpredictable array of problems, varying in both intensity and duration. Problems, particularly ones regarding existential suffering, characterize our human condition. These discordances may be deeply personal and may weigh on the psyche, resulting in a disconnected, hopeless, or otherwise undesired experience of life. As a therapist, I am committed to helping my clients’ assess and access their intrinsic psychoemotional resources with which they might address their own problems in an informed, effective, and ultimately autonomous manner.
I invite you to contact me if you are interested in working together, and I look forward to the opportunity to help bring about positive change in your life.
Maria Sosa, MS
Registered Marriage & Family Therapist Intern
#IMT2876 • Tel: 954 800 0818, extension 118
Maria Sosa, M.S. is a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Florida Atlantic University and went on to earn her Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. She is originally from Venezuela and speaks Spanish fluently, bienvenidos!
Sometimes, finding out what you don’t want to do is the path to figuring out your life’s passion. This was exactly the case for Maria, who worked in finance for many years before embarking on a journey which led her to family therapy and the fulfilling joy of helping others. Since then, she had dedicated herself to helping clients through the use of strength-based and solution focused techniques. She is passionate in her work with families, children and teenagers. While completing her master’s, Maria received her training at the Brief Therapy Institute where she provided therapy, collaborated with supervisors and colleagues on diverse family issues such as marital discourse, divorce, behavioral problems in children, depression, and anxiety, to name a few. She worked at Pine Ridge Elementary’s PROMISE program where she conducted helpful therapy interventions for addressing socially unacceptable behaviors in youths. Additionally, Maria also worked at Jewish Adoption and Foster Care Options (JAFCO) where she facilitated therapies with children and teens in the foster care system. Through these various experiences and settings, there has always been an underlying theme: empowerment and resiliency. It is Maria’s priority to focus on providing insight and tools which will allow clients to view their problems through a lens which focuses on finding strengths and solutions.
In addition to her love for therapy and helping others, Maria is a firm believer of the mind-body connection and how the two go hand in hand in creating a balanced sense of health and wellness. In this sense, Maria likes to incorporate health, nutrition and exercise topics into the therapy room with the intention of taking a more rounded and holistic approach to the wellbeing of her clients.
