Alexandra Alfaro, PhD Candidate, MS, LMFT

Alexandra Alfaro is a registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern for the state of Florida, working under the supervision of Dr. Aurélia Bickler. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Family and Child Sciences from Florida State University in 2013 and her Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in 2015. Currently, Alexandra is a PhD candidate in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Nova Southeastern University.

Alexandra has experience working with several different populations in various settings. While completing her Master’s, she worked as a therapist at a residential substance abuse rehabilitation center in Miami, conducting individual and group therapy. She continues to work at Nova Southeastern University’s Brief Therapy Institute as an independent therapist. Additionally, she works as a supervisor at Promise at Pine Ridge Elementary—a preventative program for youth recidivism.

Alexandra is devoted to working with individuals, couples, and families alike. Utilizing a systemic approach, she collaborates with her clients to build a picture of their preferred selves and future. She strives to take a step into her client’s frame of reality to understand the challenges that they may be facing and offer new perspectives.

In addition to her passion for seeing clients reach their goals, Alexandra has a great passion for animals. She enjoys spending her spare time with her rescue dog, Ellie, and trying new restaurants (especially dog friendly!). She also loves to travel, seeing it as an opportunity to get to know the world a bit more.
